NetSec-KR is a leading academic conference in information security, hosted by the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA) and organized by the Korea Institute of Information Security and Cryptology (KIISC). This year’s theme, “AI Transformation Built on Unshakable Security Foundations,” reflected the growing emphasis on robust security frameworks in the AI era.

During the session, Penta Security analyzed the current state of the Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP), which is a mandatory requirement across Korea’s public, financial, and defense sectors. The presentation addressed practical challenges observed in real-world environments, including prolonged certification timelines, revalidation burdens during system maintenance, and difficulties applying KCMVP standards to IoT and OT environments.

The session also examined the urgency of transitioning cryptographic systems in response to quantum computing. Penta Security reviewed global regulatory developments — including NIST’s Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standardization — and outlined structural limitations in existing cryptographic systems, making the case for proactive PQC adoption.

On that front, Penta Security proposed a Hybrid Crypto approach combining traditional cryptographic algorithms with PQC, enabling organizations to maintain security resilience while preparing for future threats. The company also highlighted crypto-agility and modular architecture as key design principles for flexible, scalable next-generation security systems.

Penta Security further introduced a strategic roadmap aimed at satisfying both KCMVP requirements and global regulatory standards, positioning the PQC transition as a defining factor in the competitiveness of future security products.

Taejoon Jung, Director of the Planning Division at Penta Security, said: “In the era of AI transformation, the foundation of security ultimately lies in establishing a robust and flexible cryptographic system. Penta Security will continue to set practical benchmarks for next-generation security standards through our Hybrid Crypto strategy.”
